Service Requests You can request a Work Order here.
Types of Requests Immediate/Emergency (24 hours) – Water breaks or power outages Urgent – Broken locks, malfunctioning device, no heat in space or broken window Routine – Placed into backlog, repairs that can be completed in less than 4 hours Preventative Maintenance or Scheduled requests – General Improvements
Frequent Service Requests Electrical Repairs: If you have a problem with an electrical outlet or switch, please contact the Facilities Services Office for the repair. Because of the code requirements, we ask that you do not attempt to make repairs on your own. We will also change the light bulbs in the ceiling light when they burn out.
Each year, we schedule a time (usually during the semester break) to do systems maintenance. The main electrical distribution is done via an underground loop system, consisting of cable switches and transformers. Electricity is distributed to all campus buildings at 4,150 volts. We will schedule these repairs several months in advance to the shutdown to provide the assistance you need to keep your critical operations in service. During the shutdown period all electrical equipment will not function. Please be sure to turn off al electrical appliances during the break. If you have special requests, please contact the Facilities Services office at extension 2247.
Furniture Moving and Storage: Our student rooms are equipped with the following per student: a bed with mattress, desk, desk chair, and dresser. The furniture is replaced on a rotating basis in the residence halls. If the furniture is lost or damaged, you will be billed at the current replacement value. The value of the replacement is listed in the student handbook. The furniture is installed and checked prior to your check-in, and will again be checked at your check-out. For your protection, we ask that the furniture not be removed from your room.
Grounds and Maintenance: Many students, faculty, staff, and visitors use the campus daily. It takes a conscious effort on everyone’s part to help keep the ground and buildings as free of litter and abuse as possible. Please help keep our campus clean and obey posted signs. The landscaping operations provide a planned program of grounds care that includes turf maintenance, snow and ice control, and litter control.
Painting: Student rooms are painted on an “as required” basis during the summer months. Exterior and other interior painting is scheduled on a cyclical basis, modified when necessary based on actual need determined by the both Facilities Services and the Residence Life Office. Every effort is made to program exterior painting frequently enough to avoid deterioration of facilities. Interior painting schedules, however, are generally limited by the availability of funds.
Pest Control: The Facilities Services Office routinely provides, by contract, pest control services for all campus buildings. If insects are noticed in buildings, occupants should call Facilities Services at extension 2247, and the exterminator will apply insecticide. The contractor is on campus the second and fourth Wednesday of the month. Be sure to contact the Facilities Services office before his arrival if you need service. Control of insects in decorative plants is the responsibility of the owner. |
